Mike Dempsey has been a vice-president for the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees for seven years. Prior to that, he worked for the Government of Alberta as a forest officer, timber management specialist, compliance assurance officer, and an environmental protection officer. Representing AUPE's members in the northeast region of the province, Mike chairs the union's Committee on Political Action, is a past board member of the Local Authorities Pension Plan and has been a board member of the Public Service Pension Plan for seven years. In addition, he sits on Public Interest Alberta's Democracy Task Force. Mike lives in Lac La Biche with his wife Heather, a middle school teacher. They have two grown children living in Vancouver and Victoria, B.C.
