Ted McCoy

Ted McCoy

Ted McCoy is an associate professor in Law and Society in the Sociology Department at the University of Calgary. His research focuses on the history of imprisonment, punishment, and the law in Canada with a focus on the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He is the author of Hard Time: Reforming the Penitentiary in Nineteenth-Century Canada and Four Unruly Women. His current research explores the history of poverty, marginality, and law in early Calgary.
